Goodhue County Historical Society

The Goodhue County Historical Society is excited about the results of  receiving funding from the Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Grants program earlier this year.

Executive Director, Robin Wipperling, says the grant has allowed them to hire additional staff to rehouse catalog, and digitize the GCHS photo collection online.

Wipperling says the new project will provide access to over 18,000 photos from Goodhue County's history.

Wipperling says Saturday, September 7th, the public is invited to learn about what school was like for kids in a one room rural schoolhouse. Create a schoolhouse craft, vote for your favorite subject, and more.

Admission is free for everyone from noon - 3 pm.

Along with GCHS staff, showcase your favorite first day of school photo for the day in a community show and tell.

Printed photos can be brought to the event to be posted on their board and digital images can be emailed to education@goodhistory.org.

Images will be displayed during the event September 7th.
