Emplify Health by Gundersen

Starting this January, Emplify Health by Gundersen Wabasha Hospital introduced outpatient chemotherapy and oncology services right there in the community, alongside a new palliative care program designed to provide comfort and dignity when it’s needed most.

Dr. Kurt Oettel, an oncologist from La Crosse, will be available in Wabasha twice a month to see patients, ensuring expert care is accessible without the long drive.

New patients can begin their journey with Dr. Oettel locally, and those already receiving care can easily transition with a simple referral.

The Wabasha County Herald reports that, currently, chemotherapy infusions are carefully scheduled to provide focused, personalized care.

Emplify Health by Gundersen Wabasha Hospital has six infusion chairs available and can accommodate patients who require extended infusion times with upgraded recliners for patient comfort during longer treatments.

As demand grows, there are plans to expand services further.
