Elgin Emergency Services Bldg

Elgin’s City Council on Aug. 19 was updated on the proposed Emergency Services building, which would house the Fire Department and the Elgin Ambulance Service.

Project committee members met with representatives of CRW Architecture in Rochester and were informed that draft plans, including visuals, will be available soon.

The Plainview News reports a survey of the current fire hall was completed by WSE Massey Engineering and Surveying, and it shows a possible easement vacation (the alley behind the fire hall would no longer be an alley, and land transfers to adjacent properties) was already included.

The city is seeking to acquire land to construct a larger fire hall building and include the Ambulance Service. The current fire hall was built in the mid-1960s.

The City Council approved a motion in July to call for an election on whether to issue up to $2,500,000 in general obligation bonds for the Emergency Services facility project.

The question of whether to authorize the issuance of bonds will be submitted to voters on Tuesday, Nov. 3  at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin.
