The 28th Annual Dick Hiley St. Jude Bass Classic in Wabasha is almost here.
The event runs Friday, May 1, Saturday the 2 and Sunday the 3rd and is presented by Skeeter Boats & Yamaha and proceeds go to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The first tournament, which was held in 1999 and hosted at Treasure Island Resort and Casino, raised $11,000.
Today, the Dick Hiley St. Jude Bass Classic has grown to be one of the biggest charity bass fishing tournaments in the nation, not only the largest for St. Jude but the only tournament and event of its kind.

The fundraising leaderboard keeps moving, anglers have already raised $561,000 during pre-Tournament events.
Last year there were 96 teams in the tournament and over $1.17M raised - a new tournament record.
