The City of Red Wing has hired Walker Consultants to complete a downtown parking study.
Community Development Director, Kyle Klatt, says the study will include an inventory of parking spaces in the downtown, an evaluation of how those stalls are being used, and an analysis of future parking needs.
The study will provide recommendations for how to accommodate additional housing in downtown without impacting existing businesses, how to better manage available public parking spaces. It will also include suggestions for accommodating electric vehicle charging infrastructure in downtown Red Wing.
The consultant has begun initial data collection and analysis for the project and will meet with key downtown stakeholders this month.
Broader public participation opportunities are also planned for early this year.
