Christian Life Center Blood Drive

Immanuel Lutheran School’s Christian Life Center was a busy place during an American Red Cross blood drive last Thursday.

According to Alice Henderson, Plainview’s blood drive coordinator, a total 38 donors pre-registered and there was one ‘walk-in’ as of mid-afternoon.

The Plainview News notes the Red Cross had hoped to secure 35 units of blood.

“Plainview turned out,” Henderson said. “We’re excited to see people wanting to help others.”

Don Snydar of St. Charles said he gives blood three or four times a year and has donated nearly 20 gallons since he was about 22. He’s now 80. He donated again in Plainview, since it was the closest blood drive. “Feels good,” Don said. “It means a lot, especially when people come and thank me.”

The Red Cross serves Wabasha, Goodhue, Olmsted, Winona, Dodge, and 8 other counties in southeast Minnesota.
