Hy-Vee is giving a Rochester-based food bank a big check to help fight hunger in southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin.
The grocery store chain recently donated $115,000 to the Channel One Regional Food Bank.
The money was part of the 100 Million Meals Challenge, which is supported by donations given by Hy-Vee customers when they pay for their purchases.
Channel One officials say the money will support nearly 27,000 visits to food pantries supported by the organization.
Channel One Regional Food Bank mobilizes organizations, volunteers, and donors to serve the network of over 160 nonprofit programs that provide food for children, adults, and families in need.
Channel One serves 14 counties across southeastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin, including Goodhue, Wabasha, Rice, Dodge, Olmsted, and Winona counties.
