Cannon Falls Shooting Details


Law enforcement is releasing more details about Wednesday’s standoff in Cannon Falls.


The Cannon Falls Police Department reports around 5:05 pm Wednesday 25-year old Dean Anderson of Cannon Falls from a shooting Wednesday morning was confirmed deceased inside the residence.


Officers of the Cannon Falls Police Department responded to a 911 call around 11:32 am yesterday of a female that reported being shot at.


When officers arrived at the residence, they found the 26-year-old female bleeding from the head in a yard in the 300 block of 1st St. N. Officers immediately established a perimeter on the home and extracted the victim from the yard and took her to a safe location to transfer her to the Cannon Falls Ambulance.


Anderson was known to be hostile to law Enforcement and had firearms in the residence and officers learned he had made prior statements that he would not go to jail.

After attempts to make contact with the male were done by phone calls and public address announcements, a search warrant was executed to enter the residence. A door and window were breached to allow access to the residence. ERT utilized a Robot and Drone to enter and search the residence.


Anderson was found dead in the residence with a gunshot wound to the head.


The female victim of Domestic Violence was treated and released from the hospital with non-life-threatening injury. The female victim’s name is not being made public.


This is an ongoing investigation and no further updates will be provided until the investigation has concluded.
