Barn Bluff Controlled Fire Today

The Conservation Corps of Minnesota and Iowa in cooperation with the City of Red Wing will be conducting a controlled burn at He Mni Can/Barn Bluff Regional Park today, weather permitting.

The burn will be isolated to the eastern native prairie section of the bluff and is scheduled to begin around 11 a.m.

Fire and smoke may be noticeable from great distances.

He Mni Can/Barn Bluff Regional Park will be open and available for public use; however, the burn will temporarily impact the Midland Trail and the southern face of the rock-climbing area.

Rock climbers should avoid the southern face of the climbing area during the burn.

The North Trail is closed until April 2026 for the winter season. 

Residents and visitors are encouraged to avoid the burn area while burn crew members are on the scene and should follow any on-site instructions from burn crew members or temporary signage.

The South Trail to the summit will not be impacted by the burn.
