Barn Bluff Controlled Burn

ree

The Conservation Corps of Minnesota and Iowa in cooperation with the City of Red Wing will be conducting a controlled burn at He Mni Can/Barn Bluff Regional Park today.

The burn will be isolated to the forested eastern end of the bluff, where a three-year invasive species management project is currently underway.

Fire and smoke may be noticeable from great distances.

He Mni Can/Barn Bluff Regional Park will be open and available for public use; however, the burn will temporarily impact the Midland Trail, Quarry Trail, and rock climbing area.

The North Trail is closed until April 2026 for the winter season.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to avoid the burn area while burn crew members are on the scene and should follow any on-site instructions from burn crew members or temporary signage.

The South Trail to the summit will not be impacted by the burn.

This project is funded by a Conservation Partners Legacy Grant, administered by the Minnesota DNR (Lessard – Sams Outdoor Heritage Council), and a donation to the City of Red Wing from the Friends of the Bluffs organization.
