During a recent Wabasha County Board meeting, commissioners approved an agreement with Wabasha County and the Minnesota Department of Transportation allowing the use of federal highway funds of $750,000 (Conservation Reserve Program funds) and $215,010 (Highway Safety Improvement Program funds) for eligible project construction costs.
The Wabasha County Herald reports the agreement and funds are for an asphalt reclamation and paving project, including shoulder paving on County Highway 1 from around Elm Street in Mazeppa to 2.3 miles north.
The County applied for and was granted federal funds for this project from two sources for carbon reduction and highway safety.
The project will include pulverizing the existing asphalt pavement and resurfacing with asphalt, plus safety improvements of paved shoulders, rumble strips, restriped 6” edgeline, and a safety wedge at the edge of the paved shoulder.
