Wabasha Athletic Complex AED Device

Wabasha has a new AED device now installed at the Wabasha Athletic Complex.
It will help keep users of the new park facilities safer in the event of a cardiac arrest (no heart beat).
An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a portable medical device that delivers an electric shock to help restore a heartbeat when someone is in cardiac arrest.
During a cardiac arrest, every second counts.
For every minute that passes without CPR and defibrillation, the victim’s chance of survival drops by 7% to 10%.
Time is muscle, which means that every minute blood and oxygen flow is cut off, more heart tissue permanently dies.
Ryan Marking, Ambulance Director was able to help find an AED device and cabinet that was suitable for the outdoors and the Wabasha Public Works Department installed the device.
The AED device came at no cost to the City and was installed thanks to generous donation for Clearway.
