Semi Truck Fire

The Red Wing Fire Department and Lake City Fire Department were dispatched to a reported semi-truck fire on southbound Highway 61 in Red Wing around 11:03 a.m. on Tuesday.
Firefighters arrived within ten minutes and encountered a fire in the vehicle’s cargo area.
The semi-truck was moved off the highway so firefighters could safely conduct fire suppression operations.
Firefighters remained on scene for approximately three hours to extinguish the fire and ensure the scene was safe.
While responding to the semi-truck fire, the Red Wing Fire Department received reports of a separate commercial structure fire in the 27000 block of Highway 61. The incidents were unrelated and required emergency resources to respond to both locations.
Upon arrival at the commercial business, crews initiated fire suppression efforts and brought the fire under control within approximately two hours. Firefighters remained on scene for an additional 90 minutes to conduct overhaul operations, extinguish remaining hot spots, and ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
One firefighter was treated and released at the scene following smoke inhalation exposure.
The property was later returned to the business operators. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
While crews were managing these incidents, two additional emergency calls were received and handled by the Hastings Ambulance and Red Wing Ambulance.
The Ellsworth Fire Department provided mutual aid assistance at the scene.
Additionally, the Hastings Fire Department provided emergency response coverage within the City of Red Wing while local crews operated at the fire.
The Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office and dispatchers provided support during the incident, as well as the Minnesota State Police and the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
