Weekend Red Wing Fire


The Red Wing Fire Department received a call Saturday at 8:55 pm reporting a structure fire in the 200 Block of 5th Street East in Red Wing.


Firefighters/paramedics were on the scene in 2 minutes and 34 seconds of receiving the call.


Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke coming from the roof and initiated an offensive fire attack.


Fire was located in an exterior wall which had spread into the attic space and was extinguished and the incident was placed under control in approximately 35 minutes.


Crews remained on scene performing overhaul and investigating the cause of the fire for an additional 2 hours. The residence sustained significant fire and smoke damage.


Occupants were home at the time of the fire but were able to safely evacuate.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
