Wabasha Short Term Rentals Hearing

The Wabasha Planning Commission will hold a public hearing tonight at 6 pm at Wabasha City Hall to consider changes to the Wabasha City Ordinance regarding amending definitions of short term rentals, VRBOS and AirBnBs.

Key Proposed Changes: 

• Rental license required

• Distance standards added (350 feet in R-1 zoning and 200 feet in R-2 zoning). No new license will be issued if there is another existing short term rental within the distance standards.

• New license requirements such as obtaining state license and inspection and insurance before being licensed

• Annual fee and upfront fee required

• License may be revoked for non-payment of lodging tax or not meeting any other requirements
