Wabasha’s Main Street Construction Wrapping Up

With Wabasha’s Main Street now open, the City and its contractors are celebrating a successful summer construction season and the new sewer and water utility lines under the street.

However, the project isn’t completely over yet, the final layer of asphalt on Main Street will not go on until next spring, when the weather warms up again.

Wabasha residents also may have noticed that the lighting isn’t on yet. Due to supply chain delays, the lights will go in mid-December.

In the meantime, the City encourages residents to use caution by the step up to the curb on Main Street, until spring when the final course is added.

Also, the City is asking its Main Street residents to help keep the sidewalks from getting damaged this first winter season.

For the new concrete sidewalk along Main Street, they ask that property owners avoid the use of salt for ice control and use sand instead, if possible. New concrete is more susceptible to damage from deicing products during the first year of its life cycle.

The City thanks all its residents, businesses, and visitors, for their patience and flexibility during the construction this season.
