Progress continues on the Wabasha Barge Terminal Project with the Army Corps of Engineers.
The project aims to build a facility on the Mississippi River to efficiently transfer dredged sand/material from barges to trucks, reducing reliance on residential roads and creating economic opportunities.
While one permit remains outstanding, the Wabasha Port Authority expects it to be secured next month.
The Wabasha County Herald reports the Port Authority also met with the Chamber of Commerce and discussed Septoberfest.
The Chamber Director expressed uncertainty about the longevity of Septoberfest.
The City allocates $15,000 to the Chamber of Commerce to support ongoing community events such as Septoberfest, Riverboat Days etc.; however, the Port Authority will hold off on distributing these funds until there is more clarity about Septoberfest’s future.
