The Plainview News reports Wabasha County Commissioners on Feb. 3 approved a motion to terminate and withdraw from the Whitewater Joint Powers Board (JPB) Agreement.

Members of the Whitewater JPB, which includes area County and Soil & Water Conservation District board members, have agreed that, due to changing circumstances, the watershed project’s mission can now best be achieved by terminating the Whitewater JPB so available resources can better align with opportunities available under the ‘One Watershed, One Plan (1W1P)’ framework.

Other agenda items that passed include an approval of a lease agreement with Ancom Communications, Inc., of Burnsville, for the Wabasha County Tower site, for $200 per month, to go into the 911 (290) account.

The 5-year agreement will run from March 1, 2026 through Feb. 28, 2031.

Approval of a lease agreement with Crane Division, Naval Surface Wafare Center, for five Night Vision Goggles, used to conduct surveillance and night safety sweeps by the Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office.

The $1,500 annual cost will be paid from the Sheriff’s line item fund.
