Wabasha Co. Sheriff's Safety Grant

The Wabasha County Commisioners recently approved the 2026 State of Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Annual County contract.

The Plainview News reports the reimbursement grant is worth $10,694 for fiscal year 2026.

The Sheriff’s Office is required by the State to provide water patrol.

This grant provides reimbursement to cover the cost of personnel expenses (excludes Federal grant personnel hours), supplies and expenses, and equipment directly related to the boat and water safety.

The grant funding assists in keeping waterways safe by allowing additional enforcement and patrol.

The grant agreement runs 18 months, which will give an additional six-month extension each year to expend state grant funds.

The grant is distributed as in the past, 60 percent on prior year activities, 35 percent on boat use, and 5 percent on special considerations.
