Wabasha Arrest in Death Investigation

The Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office received a call Wednesday around 4:45 pm of a woman that was severely injured and needed medical attention at the West Newton location.

The woman, 36- year old Melissa Hunt, died at St. Elizabeth’s Health Care.

The male suspect, 44-year old Craig Alan Hameister of Rochester, was apprehended in the Chester Woods area by the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office.

Hameister and Hunt did have a previous relationship.

He was transported and is being held in the Wabasha County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing.
