Residents on both sides of the Mississippi River using Highway 63 are going to have to start allowing for more travel time for the next several weeks as a $7.1 million construction project is underway.
Now through to late September, crews are removing existing pavement and placing new asphalt; adding rumble strips; adjusting guardrail; completing culvert maintenance; and installing permanent pavement markings, from the Minnesota state line to US 10 west of Ellsworth.
US 63 is open to traffic, but motorists will encounter single-lane closures controlled by flagging where milling and paving are occurring.
Another project, the Highway 10 closure to through traffic East of the County E intersection south of River Falls, is expected to wrap up in late August.
That project involves reconstructing approximately 1,000 feet of US 10 east of the County E intersection to lower the state highway's vertical curve by about five feet to increase motorists’ sight distance; replacing culvert pipe and placing new pavement markings.
