Suspect Arrested in Lawmakers Shootings

Vance Boelter, the suspect in relation to the shootings of two Minnesota lawmakers, is now in custody, according to sources.

57-year old Boelter, is allegedly the individual who shot Minnesota lawmakers Melissa Hortman and John Hoffman early Saturday morning.

According to the Associated Press, Boelter was arrested Sunday evening.

Sen. Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, are expected to survive the shootings. However, Speaker Emerita and DFL Leader Hortman, and her husband Mark, were killed.

Boelter surrendered to authorities amid drones and SWAT teams near his home in Green Isle.

A motive for the shootings is still unknown at this time.

In a press conference Sunday evening following Boelter’s arrest, authorities said the manhunt to find him was “the largest in the state’s history.”

Governor Walz called the manhunt “complex and dangerous,” while also condemning the shootings.
