The Minnesota Timberwolves tip-off the Western Conference Finals with a Game One match-up against the Dallas Mavericks at the Target Center tonight. The Wolves are coming off a 4-3 win over the Denver Nuggets in the best-of-seven Second Round earlier this month. Minnesota went 3-and-1 against the Mavericks in the regular season, but Luka Doncic missed two of the match-ups, and Kyrie Irving only played in the game that Dallas won. The T-Wolves haven't been to the WCF since 2004, when they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers 4-2. Tonight's game tips off at 7:30PM. In other team news, Rudy Gobert was named to the NBA's All-Defensive Team yesterday.
The Minnesota Twins got back on track with a 10-0 rout of the Washington Nationals at Nationals Park. The Twins launched four home runs in the victory. Byron Buxton went deep twice, while Willi Castro and Jose Miranda also homered. Joe Ryan earned his third win after striking out six and holding that Nats to three hits over seven scoreless innings. The Twins snapped a seven-game losing streak, and they're in third place in the AL Central at 25-and-23. Simeon Woods Richardson starts for the Twins against Washington this afternoon. 11:35 pm pre-game 12:05 pm game on KWNG 106 & WPVW.
The Minnesota Vikings held their second OTA workout at TCO Performance Center yesterday. Quarterback Sam Darnold took his reps with the starting offense, while first-round pick JJ McCarthy and second-year BYU product Jaren Hall each played with the developmental team. The Vikings are off today before wrapping up the week with another OTA workout tomorrow.
The Packers' star quarterback is at OTA's despite his contract status being up in the air. Jordan Love is attending all offseason workouts, even though he's slated to earn just 11-million dollars this year. He told the media yesterday that he "doesn't know yet" if he'll play out the year on his current deal. Love is heading into his second season as Green Bay's starter.
The Brewers staged a late rally to beat the Marlins 7-5 from Miami. The team trailed by three runs in the eighth inning until Christian Yelich laced a triple to score two runs. Willy Adames doubled-home Yelich for the eventual game-winner. Milwaukee remains first in the NL Central at 28-and-20 and will go for the series sweep tonight.
