The Vikings are in the market for a new starting quarterback for the first time since 2018. Kirk Cousins signed a four-year, 180-million-dollar contract with the Atlanta Falcons yesterday, just a few months after telling reporters that his next contract wouldn't be about the dollars. Cousins spent six seasons with the Vikings, but he only led the team to the playoffs twice and finished with only one playoff win. He passed for 2,331 yards, 18 touchdowns, and five interceptions before tearing his Achilles in Week Eight. The Vikings also signed QB Sam Darnold to a 1 year deal.

The Vikings are bolstering their defense. The Purple added edge rushers Jonathan Greenard and Andrew Van Ginkel along with linebacker Blake Cashman in free agency yesterday. Greenard is coming off a 12-and-a-half sack season in Houston, and his deal is worth 76-million dollars over four years, while Van Ginkel had six sacks and an interception with Miami in 2023 and inked a two-year, 20-million dollar contract. Cashman is a former Minnesota Gophers linebacker, and he signed a three-year deal worth 25.5 million dollars. The Vikings also re-signed back-up offensive linemen David Quessenberry and Blake Brandel yesterday.

Tonight's game starts at 7:00PM.

Brooks Lee had a double in the losing effort, while Chris Paddack was charged with the loss after surrendering a run on six hits in four innings. Joe Ryan starts for the Twins against Detroit today.

There will be a new rusher patrolling the backfield at Lambeau Field next season. ESPN reports the Packers signed Josh Jacobs to a four-year, 48-million-dollar contract yesterday. The deal includes 12.5-million in guaranteed money. The 26-year-old finished with career lows in nearly every stat category with the Raiders last season including yards with 805 and rushing touchdowns with six. The Pack released longtime starter Aaron Jones in a following move.
