The final playoff spot in the Western Conference is up for grabs when the Timberwolves host the Oklahoma City Thunder at Target Center tonight. Minnesota blew a late lead in a 108-102 overtime loss to the Lakers on Tuesday, while the Thunder pulled out a win over the New Orleans Pelicans. Center Rudy Gobert and forward Karl-Anthony Towns were both listed as questionable in yesterday's injury report The winner of the matchup moves on to face the West's top-seeded Denver Nuggets in the first round.

The Twins struck for nine runs in the top of the first inning during an 11-2 rout of the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium. Michael A. Taylor, Edouard Julien, and Carlos Correa hit back-to-back-to-back home runs in the frame. Taylor finished the day with a pair of home runs and four RBI. Joe Ryan improved to 3-and-0 after striking out ten and giving up just one run on three hits over seven innings. Minnesota is on a three-game winning streak, and they lead the AL Central with a 9-and-4 record. Louie Varland gets the call against the Yankees tonight.

The Wild wrapped up the regular season with a 4-3 overtime loss to the Predators in Nashville. Nic Petan tied the game at three with less than six minutes left in regulation, but the Predators ended the game with a goal in the third minute of the extra period. Freddy Gaudreau had two goals in the losing effort. The Wild end the regular season as the third-place team in the Central Division with 103 points and a 46-25-and-11 record. Minnesota will take on either Colorado or Dallas in the first round of the playoffs next week.

The Pack have 10 picks including four seventh rounders, but the team could move up to the seven spot if it acquires either of the Jets' second round picks in an Aaron Rodgers trade. Only the Texans, Seahawks, Lions, Raiders, Bears and Cardinals would have more draft capital than Green Bay if a Rodgers deal gets done.

The Bucks are getting some good news on one of their injured players. Khris Middleton was a full participant at Thursday's practice in Milwaukee. Meanwhile, guards Grayson Allen and Pat Connaughton were limited as both are dealing with ankle issues. Middleton has been dealing with knee soreness and was taken off the court during the team's win over the Bulls last week. Milwaukee clinched the top-seed in the NBA with the victory and will play the winner of the Bulls-Heat play-in game, which tips off in Miami tonight.

The Brewers opened their series against the Padres with a 4-3, extra innings win in San Diego. Rowdy Tellez hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th which plated the game winning run. Tellez also crushed a two-run homer in the first inning while Mike Brosseau launched a solo shot in the fifth. Milwaukee improved to 9-and-4 and is still first in the NL Central. Game two of the four-game series takes place tonight. Freddy Peralta gets the start opposite Michael Wacha.

Commanders fans are rejoicing. Washington's owners Dan and Tanya Snyder have reached a preliminary nonexclusive agreement to sell the franchise to a group led by Josh Harris. According to ESPN, the team is being purchased for a record 6.05-billion-dollars. The nonexclusive deal is fully financed but not signed, meaning another group could still come in and buy the team. The deal for the Commanders also includes FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland as well as the team's practice facility in Ashburn, Virginia. The organization has been seeking a new stadium somewhere in the DC area.

The Rays are starting off the season by tying a modern MLB record. Tampa Bay won its 13th consecutive game to start the year after beating the Boston Red Sox 9-3 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. The Rays have matched the 13-and-0 start of the 1982 Atlanta Braves and 1987 Milwaukee Brewers. Kevin Kelly was credited with the victory after allowing one run over two and two-thirds innings of relief. Yandy Diaz and Brandon Lowe each went deep with a solo shot in the win.

The defending NBA champions are getting back Andrew Wiggins for their first round playoff series. Golden State head coach Steve Kerr said on Thursday that the forward is "feeling good and is ready to go" for Saturday's game against the Kings in Sacramento. Wiggins missed the final 25 games of the regular season while dealing with a family matter. The Athletic reports the 28-year-old forward will likely come off the bench and play between 20-to-25 minutes in Game One.
