A Wisconsin man and former patient care assistant is accused of hitting and choking a patient.
21-year old Tavian Siglar, of Ellsworth, faces felony charges in Goodhue County of criminal neglect causing bodily harm; criminal neglect deprivation and gross misdemeanor charges of criminal abuse by a caregiver; two charges of fourth-degree assault and misdemeanor charges of fifth-degree assault and disorderly conduct.
According to court records, the mother of a patient being cared for at home reviewed video monitoring her son in his room that caught Siglar punching and choking him.
The woman's son has an anoxic brain injury from 2017 and isn't able to care for himself, court records show.
Videos show the incidents happened between July 17 and July 20, 2025, when Siglar was employed by Accra Homecare.
According to court records, Accra fired Siglar immediately after the patient's mother contacted the company.
Siglar was granted release on a $10,000 conditional bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 27.
