School Bus Stop Sign Violations

ree

Well, that didn’t take long.

Red Wing Public Schools started classes last Tuesday, and already Red Wing Police have had to write a ticket to somebody that ran through the school bus stop sign on the very first day.

Red Wing Assistant Police Chief, Brian Metling, says stopping for the school bus is common sense but that still sometimes fails some people.

Metling says according to State law, drivers must stop at least 20 feet away from a school bus when its red lights are flashing and the stop-arm is extended.

Besides fines, more severe penalties, including criminal charges, can be applied for passing on the right, passing when a child is present, or causing injury or death.
