John Hutchinson, President of Destination Lake City says fundraising efforts for the memorial to Ralph Samuelson, inventor of water skiing, continues.
Hutchinson says the memorial will be dedicated on Saturday, July 2nd, 100 years after Samuelson first skied on Lake Pepin.
The total cost of the memorial is just over $60,000, with the goal of raising $75,000. Hutchinson says the additional money will go towards the cost of preparing the site, mounting the memorial on a 1,200 pound stone, and a special plaque.
