Red Wing Stabbing

The Red Wing Police Department responded to a reported domestic disturbance in the 500 block of Maple Street in Red Wing early this morning around 2:07 am.

The caller reported a female was "bleeding badly." The Red Wing Fire Department was dispatched to the scene.

Officers were familiar with the parties involved and while responding to the scene, a Red Wing officer observed a male suspect in a vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.

After a brief pursuit, officers terminated the chase for safety concerns, and the suspect's whereabouts are currently unknown.

Officers located the female victim at the scene and provided emergency medical aid. The victim provided information which led officers to believe the victim had been stabbed once in the chest by the assailant.

Red Wing Ambulance transported the victim to Red Wing Mayo Hospital for medical care and was later airlifted to another medical facility for follow-up care. There is no update on the condition of the victim at this time.

The investigation into this case is ongoing. Due to the relationship between the suspect and victim, Red Wing police do not believe the suspect poses a safety risk to the general public.
