A 27 year old Red Wing man was sentenced this week in Goodhue County Court after being charged after abducting a woman in Minneapolis.
Da’Quairus Nathaniel Black, who was arrested in August 2022 and charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment, possession of a firearm after being convicted of a crime of violence, and fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, was sentenced to probation for man.
Black entered an Alford plea to kidnapping and fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle.Â
He was sentenced Monday to three years of supervised probation and must pay $5,000 in restitution.
According to law enforcement, the woman had gotten into a fight with her boyfriend, threw down her phone, and got into a vehicle she thought was a rideshare. Black was behind the wheel and drove off and he refused to take the woman where she wanted to go or let her exit the vehicle.
The woman says she told Black she needed to use the bathroom and Black stopped at a convenience store in Cannon Falls, where the woman was found in the bathroom crying and asking for help.
