Red Wing School Board members on June 23^rd unanimously approved the 2026 fiscal year budget, which covers the 2025-2026 academic year, which began July 1st.

Administrators outlined budget parameters last month, and board members authorized tapping the district’s fund balance up to $1 million to balance the budget.

The fiscal year 2026 General Fund budget calls for using about $470,00 of that balance.

The projected unassigned fund balance for the General Fund is 12.5%, keeping the fund above the minimum balance of 5% outlined in policy.

Several other departments within Red Wing Public Schools, including food service and Community Education, also will dip into their fund balances.

Lisa Rider, the districts Director of Finance and Operations, reminded the Board that the numbers are estimates due to possible changes in attendence numbers and state and federal funding.
