Red Wing Public Schools will offer each student with one breakfast and one lunch at no cost every school day starting with the 2023-2024 academic year.
This is financed through the new Minnesota Free School Meals Program.
While meals are free of charge, students must pay for ala carte items such as milk to accompany a home lunch, other beverages, snacks and extra meal items. Students must have funds in their accounts to purchase items. Create an account at www.schoolcafe.com/register.
Although no application is required to receive the meals, district leaders highly recommend that all families complete an Application for Educational Benefits. Doing so benefits qualifying families and the district. Your child could be eligible for reduced or free rates on:
· School activity registration
· Home internet subscription
· Academic tests
· College applications
· Red Wing Water Park passes
· Dental exams at school
Jess Peña, RWPS Student Nutrition Services director, will be available to help families apply during elementary, middle and high school back-to-school events the last week of August.
The application form is available online at https://redwing.k12.mn.us/.
