The Red Wing Police Department is part of law enforcement statewide in an extra speed enforcement and awareness campaign running through Tuesday, September 2nd.
This coincides with the “100 deadliest days” on Minnesota roadways, Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Assistant Chief Brian Metling says expect to see an increased law enforcement presence throughout Southern Minnesota.
As you're making your plans, make sure choosing a safe and sober ride is at the top of your to-do list.
Law enforcement will be looking for drivers who appear impaired by alcohol, cannabis, prescription medications or any other substance.

I appreciate that speed/impaired driving is being enforced but, why advertise it? This is something that should be done 365 days/year and does not need to be advertised. It’s like giving drivers a “heads up” to drive more careful during given dates……then they can go back to their “norm” once the date has passed!🤷🏻♀️
