The Red Wing Police Department has many roles in the community.
Police Chief Gordon Rohr says one thing that’s changed in the last few years, traffic stops for impaired driving. Rohr says nearly half of the impaired drivers are under the influence of illegal narcotics or prescription drugs.
Rohr says having officers get involved in community events is an important part of their service.
Rohr says other community events officers take part in, include Halloween’s Trunk or Treat, the Hispanic Festival, Shop with a Cop, and Concerts in the Park in Central Park.
He hinted that the Grinch, who may or may not be a part of the Department, will make an appearance during this year’s Holiday Stroll after missing it in 2022.
