The Red Wing City Council at their May 28th meeting accepted the parking study conducted by Walker Consultants and discussed how to move forward.  Â
The study shows we have an abundance of parking downtown and in the West End District, but that parking can be difficult in some high-demand areas.
It also evaluated what future parking needs may arise as downtown redevelopment progresses.
Near-term recommendations are to implement a widespread three-hour on-street time limit (enforced during business hours); strategically place on-street parking for very brief stops; create a recognizable parking brand so more people know where to park; and change the names of off-street parking locations to be more easily identifiable.
Council also directed staff to create a committee to plan next steps so you can expect to hear more in the coming months.
