Red Wing Fire Department Public Education

The Red Wing Fire Department’s role in the community goes beyond responding to fires and emergency medical calls.

Red Wing Fire Marshall Andy Speltz says community engagement is important and that includes teaching safety to kids.

Speltz says fire and EMS public education is important and they have expanded their outreach to youth as young as 3 years old.

In addition to performing the fire suppression activities typically associated with a fire department, the Red Wing Fire Department provides advanced life support (paramedic) ambulance services for the city of Red Wing and the surrounding communities, auto extrication, hazardous materials incidents, and ice rescue incidents.

Each year the Red Wing Fire Department responds to over 3,400 calls for service.
