Red Wing's tree canopy is in imminent danger due to Emerald Ash Borer (EAB), an invasive insect that infests and ultimately kills ash trees. The majority of ash trees in Red Wing will die in the next six years.
The City of Red Wing is rolling out a program as part of their efforts to combat EAB to plant more new trees of different types this spring.
The city is giving people a chance to volunteer to host a boulevard tree as the Public Works Department replaces ash trees on City property, or you can remove and replace or treat ash trees on privately-owned property.
