Red Wing Car Fatality

A 71-year old Red Wing man died after a traffic accident yesterday on Highway 61 at 2:19 pm.

Michael Thomas Murphy was on 7th Street attempting to go North Bound onto Hwy 61 when his vehicle went into the median, through the guard rail and rolled onto its side near the Minnesota Correctional Facility.

Red Wing Police Department, Red Wing Fire and Ambulance responded at the scene.

Road condition was wet at the time of the accident.

Police said the airbag deployed in Murphy’s 2013 Chevrolet Suburban and he was wearing a seatbelt.
