Red Wing Area Food Shelf Volunteers

The Red Wing Area Food Shelf is as busy as always and they can always use more volunteers.

Dee Bender, Board member of the Food Shelf as well as a volunteer, says they play an important role in keeping the shelves stocked.

Food Shelf Manager, Brenda Smith, says the need for food assistance remains high and earlier this year they opened their doors for in-store shopping.

Smith says in addition to non-perishable food items, monetary donations are always welcome. With every $1 you donate, they are able to buy about $3 worth of food at the Channel One Food Bank in Rochester.

An average time commitment for volunteers is 2-3 hours a month. You can stop by at 1755 Old West Main Street during open hours and fill out a volunteer application, or submit the form online.
