The American Red Cross is experiencing a severe blood shortage and Melanie Tschida, Executive Director, American Red Cross Southeast Minnesota, says she is hoping collections at the Minnesota State Fair will help.
Tschida says they are in a new spot on the fairgrounds this year, in the North End Event Center, located north of Murphy Avenue at the north end of the fairgrounds.
Tschida says the need for blood never stops and the cancellations of countless blood drives in the past year and a half has led to the shortage.
With the ongoing blood shortage, Tschida says she hopes people will continue to donate in their own communities and at the fair.
The Minnesota State Fair runs August 26th - September 6th. To find your nearest blood drive, go online to redcross.org and enter your zip code.
