Plainview Tax Levy Increase

Residents of Plainview will see an increase in levy taxes in the coming year.

Plainview’s City Council approved a resolution last week setting the 2026 preliminary tax levy at $3,127,368 and scheduling a Truth in Taxation hearing date for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9 at City Hall.

The amount reflects an increase from the 2025 levy of $205,421, or 7.03 percent, according to the Plainview News.

The levy amount can now be reduced from the preliminary levy set, but it cannot be set higher.

An ongoing review of each department’s operating and capital budgets will take place during October and November, giving the Council members time to review, ask questions, discuss, and make changes as they see necessary.
