Plainview Safe Routes to School

Plainview Mayor, Aaron Luckstein, says the city is in the process of working with the Minnesota Department of Transportation on their Safe Routes to School program.

Safe Routes to School’s goal is to improve safety and reduce traffic congestion around schools. Luckstein says the City has compiled the results of community input and MnDOT’s assessment.

Luckstein says Plainview and Elgin, will soon have a trial run on some low cost improvements like bump outs and narrowing cross walks, and collect feedback.

MnDOT’s Safe Routes to School program offers a variety of different planning and assistance grants that are funded through the state non-infrastructure program, federal and Safe Routes to School transition funds.
