Plainview Public Library

Plainview Public Library patrons asked for a quiet meeting space and the request has been granted.

A sound-proof office booth, installed in mid-May in the children’s area, features a ventilation system with fans providing ‘white noise,’ plus power plugs and phone jacks.

It can accommodate three or four people.

According to the Plainview News, self-contained private office booths, created by a company called Pillar, are designed for open-plan offices and public spaces.

Programming and Outreach Librarian Meg Curtiss said patrons are using the space for meetings, online training, and video conferences. College students use it for online classes.

Reservations are available in 1-hour increments, with a limit of four per day. Times can be booked at https://plainviewlib.mn.us.

The space was funded by generous community donations.
