A rich holiday tradition continues at the Plainview Police Department.
Each year, police chief Jason Timm donates a Christmas tree stand, lights, and a star.
And a tree is purchased at KBS in Plainview, using ‘thank you’ funds donated throughout the year.
According to the Plainview News, the tree honors fallen law enforcement officers - specifically Shawn Schneider, a Plainview native who died in the line of duty in 2011, and Wabasha County Chief Deputy Joe Modjeski, who died in 2019.
Blue bulbs adorn the tree, which stands outside City Hall. The color blue signifies law enforcement.
Timm says their absence is felt profoundly, and we honor their memory by holding them close in our hearts during this special time.
