Pierce County Traffic Fatalities

On Tuesday December 30th, at approximately 3:55 pm, the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a two-vehicle accident with injuries on US Highway 63 near 770th Street in Trenton Township.
It was determined a 2013 Kia Optima operated by 43-year old Jena Klos, of Ellsworth was traveling southbound on US Highway when she collided with a 2012 Chevy Equinox operated by 77-year old Rodney Buck of Amery, WI who was traveling northbound on US Highway 63.
Klos was transported by Red Wing Ambulance to Regions Hospital in Saint Paul, MN where she was later pronounced deceased.
Buck was transported by Red Wing Ambulance to Mayo Hospital Red Wing, and later to Saint Mary’s Hospital, in Rochester with undetermined injuries.
A passenger in Mr. Buck’s vehicle identified as 77-year old Betty Buck of Amery, was pronounced deceased on scene by the Pierce County Medical Examiners Office.
The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Red Wing Fire, Red Wing Ambulance, Red Wing Police Department, Ellsworth Ambulance, Ellsworth Fire Department and the Ellsworth Police Department.
