PEM School Board members on July 20 approved a resolution to issue General Obligation Facilities Maintenance bonds in an amount up to $8,40,000 to finance an indoor air quality project scheduled for the summer of 2027.
The School Board has approved a contract with Minneapolis SiteLogiq, an engineering firm which will serve as the district's project manager throughout the planning and construction process.
The Plainview News reports a bond sale will be held in January to provide funding.
The work will remediate a mold problem which affected the PEM PreK-3 building, PEM High School building, and the PEM 4-5 building in Elgin last summer.
It will include replacing the HVAC system in the Pre-K building, updating the fire alarm system to bring it up to new industry standards, and re-placing fluorescent lighting with LED lighting.
SiteLogiq will host community information meetings to share project details and answer questions as planning continues.
