National Eagle Center’s American Eagle Gallery

Greg Taylor

Have you ever heard a story of an eagle flying off with a pet, or even a child?

Fantastical stories of eagle attacks have been around as long as human civilization, and a new exhibition now open in the National Eagle Center’s American Eagle Gallery chronicles this long history from the myths of ancient times to the tabloids of present-day.

Clearing the Air: Attack of the Giant Eagle provides a visual tour of eagle attack storytelling starting with the myths of Ancient Greece and traveling forward to the 21st Century.

The exhibit also examines the topics of tabloid sensationalism and the emerging use of deepfakes and AI to perpetuate myths and disinformation concerning eagle attacks.

The Center is open daily 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
