Every year, students flock from across the country to study musical instrument repair and building at Minnesota State College Southeast in Red Wing.
To share their talents with the community, the college hosts an annual musical variety showcase called Strings, Winds & Brass.
This year's concert is scheduled for Sunday, March 26 at 4 pm at the historic Sheldon Theatre in downtown Red Wing.
True to the show's theme, a wide variety of musical instruments and styles will be presented, from hurdy-gurdy and alphorn to solo piano, a capella singing, and rock band.
On the classical side, there will be brass and woodwind solos, duos, quartets, quintets, and even a horn octet. Folk music groups include the professional Celtic ensemble Bardmageddon; singer-songwriters Carriage House; and Flatt & Square, the college's faculty-staff-alumni trio.
Tickets are available from the Sheldon Theatre box office (www.sheldontheatre.org or 651-388-8700). Adult tickets are $15; students are only $5.
