MN State Parks and Trails Damage

The Minnesota DNR has provided an update on the latest on flooding damage and cleanup at Minnesota state parks and trails in the SE part of the state.

·       Beaver Creek Valley State Park is still closed as crews work to clear debris and consult on bridge and road repairs. The DNR anticipates the park will reopen the week of July 13.

·       Forestville/Mystery Cave State Park: Mystery Cave tours resumed yesterday. Visitors may experience a few trail closures due to erosion and as staff work on cleanup. Visitors should follow park signage to avoid those areas.

·       Root River State Trail: trails are mostly clear of mud and trees, but crews may still be out working to clear debris. Look for cones, barrels and/or fencing to indicate active work areas or known hazards on the trail.

·       The multi-use trails in Snake Creek and Trout Valley forest recreation areas in Richard J. Dorer State Forest are now open.

·       Chatfield ATV trail is now open. The Southeast Minnesota ATV trail is still closed.

Visitors should continue to check visitor alerts before heading out to a state park, state trail or recreation area.
