Minnesota's Cold Weather Rule is now in effect.
The law prevents utilities from cutting off electric or natural gas service between October 1st and April 30th.
Service cannot be disconnected as long as customers set up a payment plan with their utility and keep up with the payments.
The rule also specifies that the utility must take into account the customer's financial situation and set a reasonable payment amount.
Customers should contact their service provider for more information about setting up a Cold Weather Rule payment plan.
